This isn’t to say every aspect of your clubs will be perfectly fine the way it is for an extensive period of time. If you don’t take care of your equipment for any sport, it’s eventually going to turn bad on you, and the same is true here. At some point, you will have to change the grip – though probably only every 3000 rounds or 6 months.

I took up golf about 2 and a half years ago. At the time I did not know much about what to look for in clubs. I am taller (5′7″) so I figured I would get a set of cheap RAM men’s clubs to start out. My thinking was that practicing with the same set of clubs will add consistency to my game. And this was partly true. I definitely got some wear and tear out of my RAM clubs.

Club Length Importance?
I've been playing golf for about a year, I just got a cheap set of Ram clubs, I'm not fitted, I upgraded my putter to the two ball Odessy, and got a MIzuno lob wedge, broke all my woods the first month I started playing, got a $20 driver from Ram Golf Club Set wallmart, and obviously I still suck hard, but I'm wondering how much your clubs affect you play. I can see how when you're really good your equipment is very important, but when you suck anyway, how much is a $20 driver going to affect you? Also I'm 6'1" and I'm wonder how long my clubs should be. I'm just wondering how much buying better stuff if really going to help me. I'm having problems with good clean contact, either blading or getting too much grass before the ball, I shank right a lot, and I hook right a lot.

Take the time to find the perfect length. If you’re swinging with something that’s too long or short, you’ll struggle to get the club to do what you want it to do or even,at times, even to hit the ball at all. You’ll feel more comfortable and even get more distance when you’re sure what you have is just right. Measure from your wrist to the ground to get a general idea.
